Well done to our Year 5/6 Leadership team, Mini Vinnies, on organising a fabulous Shrove/Pancake Tuesday. Thanks to Mrs Jensen and the staff who also helped to make this a special day. On Ash Wednesday, we marked the beginning of Lent with a Liturgy led by 2/3. Thank you Year 2/3, Mr McCann and Father Terry for leading us through this special day. Lent is the period of six weeks leading up until Easter and the most important festival in the Christian calendar. In Lent, we acknowledge the ways we have turned away from God in our lives and we focus on turning our hearts and minds back towards God.
Congratulations to our award winners for this week; Breanna McIlroy, Willow Goldsmith, Lillie-Maii Smith and Ruby Blanchard.
In Week 6 we will be having Parent Teacher Meetings. Information will be sent out next week. We would love to see all of our parents for their input and parntership at this meeting. Meetings will be held at school, under a COVID-19 Safety Plan.
A special thank you to the Blanchard family for their time in installing our new basketball hoop over the last weekend.
There is a P&F meeting on Monday where we will have the opportunity to discuss implementing a new model. The meeting is on in the Library and begins at 6pm.
Peace & Best Wishes,
Amy Maslen

PASTORAL CARE
All the students seem so happy to be at school and they are so engaged in their learning. It is noticeable how quickly they come in from playtime and immediately “switch on” to their classroom learning. If at any time you notice that your child needs some special TLC or some assistance with small things throughout the school day, please let us know.
MINI VINNIES
The Pancake Day held on Shrove Tuesday was a great success. The Mini Vinnies served up a delicious range of pancakes. Students and staff gave the Mini Vinnies top marks for the feast.
Traditionally, Shrove Tuesday was a time to eat and enjoy foods before the season of Lent began and people “gave up” eating special foods during Lent.
The gold coin donations made on the day will be put towards a Min Vinnies project to assist the community through “good works”.
CANTEEN
The Year 5 and 6 students are continuing to do a great job of running the Canteen. Everything runs smoothly and efficiently and COV-ID Safe. A reminder that to parents that chocolates and lollies have now been removed from the Menu, however we will still sell ice-blocks and ice-creams (at the moment we have Drumsticks which are a big hit), We are always open to suggestions about what is sold at the Canteen.
Also, a big thank you to everyone for including the correct amount of money with Lunch Orders.
P & F DONATION of games and equipment:
At the beginning of this year we received boxes of games and equipment which was purchased from P & F fund raising income. Students have been happily enjoying using the various items such as Insect Catchers, Monster Trucks, Building blocks and games. Thank You to the P & F.

Last Thursday, K-6 joined together to watch the streaming of The Pecking Order, the 2021 ASPIRE production. The play showcased the talents of students from Years 5-11 across the Maitland-Newcastle Diocese and was filmed at the Civic Theatre. This year the play was about birds and was set at Camp Capacity. It was a wonderfully entertaining play. Students in Years 4,5 and 6 (attending St. Clare's Taree) are eligible to audition for ASPIRE in the areas of Vocal, Dance, Drama and Band.

2021 Song Competition
The 2021 ASPIRE Song Writing Competition is open to all students in our primary and secondary schools. This year’s themes come from the 2021 ASPIRE production ‘The Masked DJ’. Young Composers and songwriters can use one or both of this year’s inspirational concept to writher their original. These are Masks and Dance Music. The attached flyer will give you more about the song competition which closes on Thursday 1 April 2021.
Those selected as finalists will workshop their songs and then perform at the Song Writing Showcase on Thursday 13 May 2021.

Project Updates:
We hope all the students enjoyed the new toys and play pieces that were waiting for them at the start of term. A special thank you to the Blanchard family who picked up the new basketball backboard and took time out of their weekend to install it. Thank you also to the parents/families who also donated toys and games for all the students to enjoy.
The Gloucester Community Shop has generously made a donation to the P&F to fund a new portable chicken coop so it won’t be long before we have some resident feathered friends at the school again.
Next Meeting:
A friendly reminder that the next P&F meeting is next Monday (22nd Feb), 6.00pm in the Library. If you haven’t already, we encourage everyone to read over the latest School Newsletter outlining the new proposed Parent Engagement Model. At Monday’s meeting we will discuss whether we continue with the traditional P&F Model or move to the new P.E.M with a new process of operation. Your attendance and input would be greatly appreciated.
