Dear Parents,
On Thursday 1st December we gathered as a school community to celebrate and farewell our much-loved Year 6 students, Mia Barnes, Nick Maslen, Peta Pettge and Xanthe Fenning at their Year 6 Graduation Mass. We congratulate Mia, Nick, Peta & Xanthe and are very proud of their achievement, growth and commitment to improvement over their years at St. Joseph's. Year 6 have been fantastic leaders and we wish the the very best for high school in 2023.
Following the Mass we celebrated our class awards assembly in the hall. A big thank you to Father Terry, Mr McCann, Miss Jordan, Mrs Middlebrook, Mrs Shultz and all staff who assisted in the Graduation Liturgy and staff who helped to make this a special day for students. It was a wonderful to be able to welcome visitors and guests to this important celebration at the school following the lifting of COVID-19 lockdowns. Having parents, friends, students and staff at school to celebrate together created great energy and helps re-establish relationships that make St Joseph's a vibrant welcoming community.
Congratulations to all students who each received an award highlighting their success and growth in 2022. A full list of awards are listed below.
We wish Mrs West all the best next year with the birth of her first child. This is such an exciting time for Casey and her husband Nick. We wish Mrs West all the very best in her contribution, dedication and support to students and the community at St. Joseph's Gloucester. In farewelling Mrs West, we welcome Michael Gleeson to our staff. Michael joins us from Holy Name Forster, where he has been teaching for a number of years. Michael is a passionate and enthusiastic teacher who is committed to the students in his care. Michael will be our Librarian and release teacher across the classes.
During the last two weeks of school we have our Year 6 Disco, Friday 9th, and Beach Day, Wednesday 14th. We look forward to these end of year activities that help us celebrate together as a school. Students received their beach note last week with details and the details for the disco are in this weeks newsletter.
As you know, the Catholic Schools Office and Director, Mr Gerard Mowbray, has made a commitment to St. Joseph's Gloucester, acknowledging the hardships our community has recently faced. Tuition Fees and the Diocesan Building Levy will be waived for next year. I am deeply grateful for this acknowledgement and support.
Peace and Best Wishes
