Dear Parents & Carers,
We are finishing Term 2 on a busy note and staff and students are looking forward to a well-earned break. There has been many celebrations and achievements in the course of this term.
Thank you to Miss Jensen and our Minnie-Vinnies and everyone who participated in the Minnie-Vinnies Op-Shop fundraiser last week. A total of $313.80 was raised for the Black Dog Institute. Students also donated blankets and goods to the St Vincent De Paul appeal and Vince Ryan, from St Vincent de Paul accepted these donations on Thursday. Thank you to all involved.
The NAIDOC 2024 theme is “Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud” (July 7-14th). The National NAIDOC Committee selected this theme to celebrate not only the survival but also the relentless spirit of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. “Keep the Fire Burning!” is a nod to the vitality and endurance of culture, and a nod to connection with Country and community, while “Blak, Loud and Proud” represents an unapologetic celebration of identity. We had some wonderful NAIDOC celebrations on Monday 1st. Thank you for all students who were enthustiastic in their participations, Year 6 for leading many activities, staff, Mrs West for organising and teachers for supporting. Special thanks to Carolyn G for cooking our sausage sizzle as part of our NAIDOC celebration.
Semester Two Reports will be distributed this week, with hardcopies given out and reports also being released on Compass. These reports allow parents to discuss students achievements and their goals and areas for improvement for Semester Two.
For your calendar, please note we have a Pupil Free Day on the first day of Term 3, Monday 22nd July. Teachers will be participating in Professional Developing, 'Crossing Boundaries, Hidden Cultures'.
We wish all families a wonderful and safe break and look forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday 23rd July.
Peace & Best Wishes,
Amy Maslen
Principal
