Dear Parents & Carers,
Last week Years 5&6 attended the Great Aussie Bush Camp. It was a wonderful camp with a variety of activites and experiences. Miss Emerson and myself were very proud of every student on camp whose behaviour was excellent and also for trying new activites and challenging themselves. From raft building to the giant swing, everyone 'had a go' and made the most of their experience. It was also enhanced by attending with our friends at St. Joseph's Bulahdelah. Thank you to all parents who supported in transport to and from the camp.
Next week we are holding Parent Teacher Interviews to discuss your child's progress, strengths and goals or areas for improvement. Timeslots can be booked through Compass or please contact the office or your child's teacher if you have any difficulty in booking through Compass. This is a great opportunity to touch base with your child's teacher and to support your child in their learning.
Next Week we are also holding Father's Day Breakfast on Friday morning. We look forward to welcoming Father's, Grandfather's or significant others to this morning. Please RSVP or contact the office for catering purposes.
Our Book Week celebrations will be held in Week 7. On Thursday 5th September we will be holding the Meerkat Productions adaption on Timeless by Kelly Canby, one of the Award Winning Books for 2024 and our parade will be held at 2pm. Parents are most welcome to attend.

Yeear 5/6 Great Aussie Bush Camp - by Year 5/6
Last week was an exciting week for Y5/6 because we went to camp.
It was a great experience. There were heaps of activities, these included:
· The great swing
· Raft building
· Dual flying fox over the treetops
· Bushcraft
· Team challenges
· Campfire and made damper
At night we had a disco. The dinner there was good. We stayed in cabins with the Bulahdelah students. All in all, a great week. A big thanks to the camp instructors Tom and Hayley. A special thanks to Miss Maslen and Miss Emerson for organising the camp and being there with us. We all arrived home tired but happy. An extra thanks to Ms Forbes and Ms Crompton for driving us home.
School Counsellor - 'Caring for kids' mental health in a challenging world' webinar link.
In Week 8, our School Counsellor will be giving a talk on Resilience. Below is a link to a webinar featuring Maggie Dent that focuses on resilience and overall child wellbeing and positive mental health, recommended by Larissa.
Wigs 4 Kids is an Australian charity that make wigs for sick children that require one, from the result of having cancer or leukaemia. Wigs 4 Kids help change childrens lives by making them feel more confident and special as they undergo treatment for disease. Students who have 20cm of hair or longer can cut or shave their hair and this can be donated to Wigs 4 Kids, along with funds to support children in need.
One of our own families at St. Joseph's, the Sheely family, are supporting this charity with Lillian having her hair cut at school on in Week 9, Tuesay 17th September at 2pm by Pagen, from the The Hairy Dairy. Any other students/families are invited to participate and raise money for Wigs 4 Kids.
For more information and to support Lillian please see the links below; or alternatively see/contact Deb Sheely, 0412 122 691.
