Student Work - Revel's poem
South with the Seabirds
As the bright morning sun pierced down,
the ocean looked like a beautiful gown.
As birds flew, fluttered, and flapped above,
Mary decided to sketch what she love.
Four brave women packed their gear,
to sail where few would ever steer.
they wore warm coats and wholly socks,
to sail past waves and icy rocks.
They weren’t pirates, queens, or knights,
they studied birds and islands sights.
They watched penguins waddle by,
and seabirds soaring in the sky.
They scribbled notes and drew the land,
with wind and snow at their command.
They saw seals hop on the shore,
and heard the oceans mighty roar.
the islands cold days were long,
but they stayed so smart so strong.
They showed the world girls could go,
to places full of ice and snow.
So, when you see seabirds fly,
or clouds drifting in the sky.
Remember those who led the way
with heart and hope they made their stay.
