Principal's Welcome
On behalf of our school, I warmly welcome you to St Joseph’s Primary School, Gloucester, a co-educational K-6 primary school in the beautiful town of Gloucester, Mid-North Coast NSW and the lands of the Worimi and Biripi people.
At St Joseph’s we provide a comprehensive, quality Catholic education, by ensuring high levels of learning for all students, providing support, intervention and evidence-based programs to ensure all students reach their learning goals. We focus on developing successful lifelong learners, ensuring student belonging, engagement and connectedness and promoting a welcoming and family-friendly environment. We encourage active participation in school life and focus on building strong community partnerships.
St Josephs was established in 1919 by the Sisters of St Joseph. Our motto ‘Reach Out in Love’ is based on the charism of the Josephites, of dignity, compassion and justice and to ‘never see a need without doing something about it’. Our Minnie-Vinnies program ensures students are provided with active opportunities to facilitate, participate and support our community.
We are a small K-6 school with three classes; K1, 2/3 and 4/5/6. Our staff are highly qualified and caring. They are committed to supporting students to become successful and confident learners by providing a comprehensive and inclusive curriculum. St Joseph’s has comprehensive literacy and numeracy programs from Kindergarten, which provides students with the best start to their learning, giving them strong foundations for continued growth and progression throughout their primary education. Our small setting allows for many opportunities for small group and one-one instruction by highly qualified staff. We provide extensive opportunities for student leadership, STEM (Science, Technology, English and Maths) sport, visual and performing arts and drama, incursions and excursions.
At St Joseph’s we provide students with a friendly, caring, and safe environment. We help our students to develop and maintain a strong sense of wellbeing and resilience. Wellbeing is an important focus of our mission as a Catholic school, where the social and emotional aspect of learning is seen as an essential component of the education of the whole child. Our Pastoral Care program supports students and families in need.
I believe that choosing to enrol your child at St Joseph’s Gloucester will be both fulfilling and rewarding, and families will experience the warm and welcoming environment where your child is at the centre of all learning.
I look forward to welcoming you into our community and working in partnership with you to ensure your child reaches their full potential.
